About
MiB
For
over 40 years Mind in Barnet has been providing mental health services
to people living in Barnet borough. We have strong links with the
local community and are tuned into peoples views and needs. We encourage
mental health service users to share their opinions and hopes so
that they can directly influence our policies and the services we
provide.
As
a small - but growing - flexible organisation, we endeavour to respond
imaginatively and effectively to requests and ideas for improvements.
Mind
in Barnet believes that we must adapt to changing needs, as part
of the modernising agenda. In order to do this we monitor our policies
and services closely. We are always on the look out for ways to
fill gaps in areas of need. We involve users, volunteers and professionals
from within our organisation and externally in our plans. As people
with mental health problems move towards the goals they themselves
have set, we are there to encourage and support them.
The
role of Mind in Barnet is not only to provide services. In addition,
we pioneer new ways of working, campaign for change, challenge accepted
views and educate the local community on mental health issues. This
is exciting work. We extend a welcome to people who are interested
in mental health to join us as members of Mind in Barnet.

GARDEN MAGIC AT MIND IN BARNET
The garden of Mind in Barnet at Schoolway, Finchley has recently benefited from a facelift that has transformed the area into a pleasant and restful environment. A volunteer project organised as part of a course run by the Outlook Training Organisation was completed in a record two days.
The project, named the Essence Garden Project, was led by James Scott of Q Garden Designs and aimed at improving peoples quality of life by making a positive and constructive change in the community. James led a team of enthusiastic volunteers who had recently attended a personal development course run by the Outlook Training Organisation. They painted, sawed, dug and planted and constructed an solar powered water feature which has generated much interest.
The project was greatly assisted by local businesses who kindly donated and discounted materials and equipment. These included B & Q Whetstone, Homebase, North Finchley and the HSS Hire Shop , East Fichley and our thanks to them for their contribution to the project.
Our thanks also to the volunteers, Philip, Fee, Heather, Karen, Daniel R, Keith, Rachel, Mel, Tim, Steve, Sheryl, Mandy, Mike, Meier, Francois, Mitchell, Danielle, Jen, Lily, Daniel S. Angela P. and James. Also Fiona Cunningham for her help in co-ordinating the project.
