The Day Centre is open from Monday – Friday between 10am – 4pm.
The Electra club is open on Fridays between 7pm – 10pm.
The Libra club is open on Sundays between 3pm – 6.30pm.
The Day Centre runs for 260 days per annum for up to 36 persons a day. The charge is 50p for morning session/50p for afternoon session each visit for as much tea and coffee as wanted. Lunch is available on days when “Book to Cook” is run and costs £3.00.
Mind in Barnet provides a Drop-In and Outreach service for people aged between 18 and 65 living the Borough of Barnet suffering from mental or emotional distress.
What is the Day Service?
The Day Service consists of two strands, which are group activities run in the Centre that clients can drop in to attend and outreach activities in the local community that are carried out on an individual basis or small groups. The purpose of the Day Service is to aid recovery process by enabling clients to improve their quality of life by offering elements of choice and control.
What is available at the School Way Day Centre?
- Drop In: A programme of activities is run in the Day Centre which the users can drop in to attend however there is no pressure to take part. The Drop In programme offers a range of activities including developing life skills and self help strategies to aid recovery; Book to Cook group; Healthy Body Health Mind group, Art, Creative Writing, Reflexology as well as specific groups for men and women.
- Short Term Outreach support: Opportunity to access one-to-one outreach support or be part of a small group accessing activities in the local community. This outreach does not involve staff visiting clients at home.
- We can assign Support Time and Recovery (STR) worker for individualised support where there is an opportunity to explore hopes and aspirations and offer support to see how goals can be achieved.
- Longer Term Outreach Support: Outreach support is offered on one to one basis with 2 options. Option 1 is where one-to-one support is provided for a maximum of 6 months and meetings are more regular. Option 2 where outreach support is provided for up to 12 months with weekly visits of up to an hour or so.
- Social clubs: 2 social clubs are run by staff and volunteers each week at the Day Centre. Electra social club runs on Friday evenings and offers a programme of activities which are chosen by members. Libra social club runs on Sunday afternoons.
Befriending: Older People Service

Mind in Barnet provides Befriending service for people over the age of 65 who suffer from mental or emotional distress who live in the Borough of Barnet.
The aim of the service is to offer one-to-one outreach support either in homes or in the community in order to alleviate isolation and loneliness as well as help develop social network links within the community.
The service will provide volunteer befrienders who will give regular one to one support and companionship for at least an hour a week over a year to people living in their own homes or in residential homes.
The process of referral involves filling in a referral form and then a visit by members of our team who will discuss the referral in more detail and answer any questions. |
