Do
you want a friend?
Are
you isolated and vulnerable to mental and emotional distress?
Do
you have problems with anxiety and depression?
Are
you trying to put your life together after a breakdown?
Do
you feel unable to make and keep friends?
Have
your friends and family deserted you?
If
you can answer yes to some of these questions then you might like
some friendly support, someone
to talk to or to go out with, and above all someone sympathetic
and understanding of
your needs.
How
can we help?
The
service provides volunteer befrienders who will be willing to visit
you for an hour or so a week,
on a regular basis. This could vary from a walk in the park, sitting
and having a chat over
a cup of tea or going shopping. A Befriender can help you feel better
about yourself.
Befriending
Volunteers
are carefully selected and recruited. They provide support and companionship
for as
long as you need it, whether you live alone, in a group or a hostel.
We believe it is important to
match you with someone who we feel you will get on with and so it
may take some time before
the right person is found for you. We very much hope you will get
on, but if you feel the person
is not right for you, we'll find someone else.
How
do I get a friend?
If
you think you would like to have a Befriender, please telephone
the
Befriending Manager on: 020 8343 5700
The
Befriending Manager will make arrangements to meet you to discuss
your needs in more detail
and answer any questions you may have.
We
look forward to hearing from you.
