Barnet Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2005-6 raises over £58,000

The former Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Andreas Tambourides, was delighted to hand over a cheque for £58,423.48 to Mind in Barnet, his chosen charity for his year in office (2005-6).

The money was raised from a series of fundraising events throughout the year, including a charity golf day, dinner in the Members’ Dining Room at the House of Commons, the Mayor’s Ball and a luncheon reception with the actress and comedienne, Maureen Lipman. Councillor Tambourides also took part in the London Mayor’s Walk.

The presentation was made at the AGM of Mind in Barnet on 10 July 2006.

Councillor Tambourides said, “ As always, I am overwhelmed at the generosity of the residents of Barnet. This donation will benefit 18 local people with mental health problems to develop cooking and food hygiene skills, which will help them find employment in the catering industry.”
