Mayor's Appeal helps local people into employment

Former Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Andreas Tambourides, joined Chief Executive of
Mind, Paul Farmer and a host of representatives from the mental health sector at Mind in Barnet's AGM yesterday in Finchley.

Councillor Tambourides presented a cheque for approximately £58,000 to Mind in Barnet's newly appointed Chair, Hadley Hunter. Mind in Barnet was the Mayor's Charity in 2005/2006. This donation was raised from a series of fundraising events throughout the year. These included the Mayor's Ball and a luncheon reception with
The actress and comedienne, Maureen Lipman.

Over the next six months this donation will benefit 18 local people with mental health problems to develop cooking and food hygiene skills, which they will use to gain employment in the catering sector.
