Campaigns
As a Local Mind Association affiliated to Mind (national), Mind in Barnet pays close attention to Mind (national) campaigns that are geared to helping improve the lives of people with mental health problems. Mind is working to better services, legal rights, and for a more accepting attitude among employers, and advising Government, health and local authorities and the public on best practice, services and developments in mental health community care.
In all Mind’s campaigning work we seek to empower those who use mental health services, making sure that those directly affected have their voices heard be that on a local or national level.
Mental health users and supporters can get involved by becoming a member of Mind in Barnet, and service users also have the option of becoming a member of our User Involvement Forum. For those wishing to get involved on a national level can become a member of Mind in Action through Mind (national) and receive information about how to respond to Government consultations and lobby their MP.
Mind (national) current campaign focus is on the Government’s review of the Mental Health Act. Mind is working with other mental health organisations to ensure that the new Act gives people sufficient rights and protections.
