Mind in Barnet provides an advocacy service for Barnet residents aged 18 and over, excluding those who are entitled to the services of an IMHA under the Mental Health Act. This service is part of the Specialist Information, Advice and Advocacy Service provided by Barnet Citizens Advice Bureau in partnership with Mind in Barnet and Advocacy in Barnet. The advocacy support provided includes the following:
- Supporting people who have experienced abuse and hate crime
- Helping with sorting out problems with debt
- Providing information about disability, illnesses and medications, housing and employment issues
- Helping to make a claim in court
- Helping with immigration matters
- Client Groups
- We provide Advocacy to anyone over the age of 18 experiencing Mental Health Problems, Autistic Spectrum Disorders or Asperger’s and learning disabilities.
We provide Advocacy for anyone between the ages of 18 and 50 experiencing Acquired Brain Injury, Sensory Impairment and Communication Difficulties. For clients in these groups over 50 or suffering from Dementia please contact Advocacy in Barnet on:

We provide Advocacy support for carers of the above client groups in relation to Carer’s Assessments.

This is not a walk in service and you must make an appointment by telephoning, emailing or writing to us. In exceptional circumstances, where people have special problems with travel, we may also be able to make appointments in the community. We also hold a regular surgery at the Citizens Advice Bureau every week and are developing surgeries at other venues throughout the borough.
